This is a very common problem. The nail can cut into the skin, causing inflammation and soreness. If left untreated this can lead to infection. Poor cutting technique, trauma, fungal infections, footwear and even genetics can cause this problem. A conservative approach is best initially, very rarely is nail surgery required. Dressings can also be provided along with any advice.
